Professor Greg Connolly and Alumna Laura Rosen Work on Tobacco Control Efforts in Israel
As early as 1983, Israel passed a law banning smoking in public places. Problem was, the law was poorly enforced. The ban was so underutilized that the amount of indoor air pollution from smoking in bars and cafes last year was nearly 20 times the level permitted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Those were the findings of a paper published in the August-September 2008 issue of the Israeli Medical Association Journal by HSPH Professor Gregory Connolly and alumna Laura Rosen.
